A group of enthusiasts from Khabarovsk found sponsors and built an inflatable catamaran to their own design. They then travelled down the Amur to the Sea of Okhotsk and along the coast to Vladivostok and back. The roughly 5,000km journey took them 111 days.
I meant to watch only the first episode, but got so engrossed that I watched the whole channel in one sitting. Mesmerising footage, a well-told story and the extraordinary landscapes of the Russian Far East — I couldn’t even tear myself away to make tea.
It was especially pleasing to see how well prepared the crew were. They had either anticipated each problem or dealt with it on the spot. At every stop, they knew what to see, and they broke up the technical details with camping recipes.
This expedition definitely belongs in my hall of fame of #youtube channels I’ll return to again and again.
