I’d been looking for a sailing school offering a skipper’s qualification since 2017. My favourites were Kabestan (RYA), Sailing Time (IYT) and BlackSeaSchool (IYT). Kabestan appealed because of its RYA qualifications and Moscow branch. Sailing Time (https://www.youtube.com/user/SailingTimeRu) and BlackSeaSchool (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO9sO6uaNBw5yKeZdq35KvA/videos) caught my attention through their #youtube channels. The latter also seemed to take a rigorous approach, with surprisingly affordable prices and a location in Crimea. With lockdowns around the world and Russia on the red list, there weren’t many options left. So in July 2021, I signed up for 14–24 September.
