There aren’t many Russian-language channels about the sea and sailing. Each is precious. There’s more in English, though still less choice than I’d like.

English-language channels:
• Sail-World — a British channel with daily two- to eight-minute news videos on sailing worldwide. Currently covering the Vendée Globe closely.
• Jakob Lang Sailing — an eighteen-year-old Austrian on a solo circumnavigation via the Drake Passage in a German Dehler Optima 92. I hope he succeeds.
• Erik Aanderaa — a Norwegian sailing solo in a Contessa 35 from Norway to Shetland, the Faroes, Iceland and Greenland in harsh conditions. Loves beer and Norse gods.
• Team Malizia - Boris Herrmann — perhaps Germany’s best-known sailor, author of several books, currently racing in the Vendée Globe 2024 and already a meme. Daily three- to seven-minute videos. Interesting to compare his reports with his actual position and the weather.
• Veronica Skotnes — a Norwegian exploring northern latitudes. Only one video so far, but wonderfully warm and cosy.
• The Low Cost Sailor — a Spaniard’s DIY channel for ‘budget’ repairs. From him, I learnt how to build an active AIS transmitter for only €50.
• Alluring Arctic Sailing — a Finn living aboard with his girlfriend, earning his living translating and sailing mainly at high latitudes. Recently sailed Alaska to Greenland along Canada’s coast.
• Sailing Sula — a Briton making solo passages along Scotland’s coast.
• Water People Expedition — a British couple’s very professionally filmed circumnavigation vlog. Lovely to watch.
• Sailing Therapy — a Dutch sailor tackling burnout through sailing. One video so far, crossing Biscay; apparently enough for his ‘therapy’.

Educational channels in English:
• Carpe Diem Sailing — a Canadian instructor’s channel with short, practical five- to ten-minute videos. An online berthing course is available on his website.
• searching for coconuts — drew me in with accessible, clear graphics explaining windvane steering and other technical subjects.
• Premium Ropes — a Dutch rigging company’s channel, full of useful ropework.
• Met Office — Britain’s weather agency, with clear graphics explaining how weather forms.

Still grateful for recommendations: heartfelt sailing blogs, determined solo sailors, unusual routes or useful learning resources. What have you found?
