Moscow has had a month of heat and calm. The forecast promised 5–7 knots, gusting 12, but I didn’t notice it. If anything, there seemed to be less wind than last time.
I sailed between various buoys, tacking upwind and gybing downwind. I felt much more confident. Whether that was the weather or the beginnings of a feel for the boat, I don’t know. I tried to do more with heel and balance.
The instructor got the time wrong, and we returned half an hour early. I could either go out again or discuss theory. By then, I had plenty of questions about fine sail trim and hiking out. With a cup of piping-hot coffee, I chose the second option.
