That evening, the owner of a 1975 Ohlson 29 unexpectedly called.

Unexpectedly, that same evening, the owner of a 1975 Ohlson 29 called. The previous buyer, a 78-year-old Pole, had decided against buying because he found it difficult to get down into the saloon. The owner offered a video viewing, to save me an unnecessary journey to Kalmar.

It was a thorough inspection. He showed me every corner. The Nanni 2.14 engine, installed in 2006, looked new. I agreed to come, provided I could spend the night aboard.

On 9 May, he met me by car at the railway station. We worked through the checklist in person, went out to sea, and sailed back. Ashore, we shook hands and signed a standard contract from https://boat24.com

The next day, he helped me move to a paid marina in the town centre and drove me to IKEA and Biltema for everything I needed: lifejackets, a safety harness, crockery, kettle, alcohol fuel, extra mooring lines and more.

And that is how, for 69,000 kronor (€6,200), I became a boat owner.
