About a year ago, on https://kak-kupit-yahtu.ru I bought ‘How to Buy a Yacht from €1,000 and Sail Her to the Mediterranean’ by Vadim https://t.me/Unakaru Luppo. I’ve only just got round to reading it.
Despite having studied with both RYA and IYT, this guide opened my eyes to all sorts of things. It answered practically every question I still had. How do you live without a shower? Can you live on a seven-metre yacht? How do you navigate canals or cross maritime borders? What should you look for when buying a yacht? Why does everyone write osmos without the k in kosmos? How does coastal sailing differ from offshore and ocean sailing? How does the Baltic differ from the Mediterranean? Is a 150-litre water tank and 200Ah of batteries a lot or a little?
What makes the book so good is the lack of padding: just practical experience and useful knowledge. Every sentence offers a useful tip. And it reads so easily that even an Atlantic crossing doesn’t seem particularly difficult. I’m glad I spent the time on it.
